Your Impact
We appreciate all of the nice 'thank-you' notes that we receive from our B+ families around the country. Can you believe that, because of you, we help families at approximately 225 hospitals around the country!!! I wish we could share all of their notes with you, but I'd like to share stories from 2 families today.
Logan
The first young man is a 17 year old named Logan. If you're not a family that has gone through childhood cancer, you are probably going to be a little surprised by this story. As I've shared with you, the side effects of chemotherapy, both short-term and long-term, are tremendously destructive given the developing nature of the child receiving these toxic chemicals. One of the common side effects is infertility and Logan and his family decided to use a cryobank so that he can hopefully have children sometime in the future. When the bill came, the family was in the midst of the overwhelming feeling of all the bills piling up and didn't know how they could afford this. Logan even told his Mom to instruct the cryobank to throw away his sample because he didn't want to add this financial burden to his family. His Mom told him that she wasn't ready for him to give up his dream of being a (biological) father someday and she contacted The B+ Foundation. In the past, we have assisted young ladies interested in freezing their eggs and we decided to provide assistance so that Logan and his family could pay for 2 years' worth of storage fees.
Miguel
Miguel is a little guy that was diagnosed in October, 2013. Miguel and his 3 siblings re-located to be closer to his hospital and Mom took a leave of absence from work. This is a very common story of income going down and expenses going up. I just LOVE the picture of Miguel holding his B+ Foundation grant check along with his brothers. Hope you like it as much.

All 25 stores across DE/PA/NJ/MD will be participating! Customers will be offered the opportunity to add $1, $3, or $5 to their bill every day throughout September with all of these donations coming to The B+ Foundation. Additionally, Seasons will be offering special promotions throughout the month to help raise additional money. Please show your appreciation by "liking" Seasons Pizza on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SeasonsPizza . They're trying to see how many new "Likes" they can get from now until the end of September. Please show them the power and force of the B+ Nation by "liking" them on FB. Thanks.
September - Childhood Cancer Community Events
1. This one is actually a few days early, but come and show support for the fight against childhood cancer by attending the Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball game on 8/28. This is a special awareness and fundraising event hosted by "Fight for the Gold", a collaboration of several Delaware-area childhood cancer groups, including The B+ Foundation.
2. "CureFest" - 9/21/14 - the National Mall in Washington, DC. The B+ Foundation will be joining other childhood cancer organizations from around the country to rally attention for our kids in "our" month. Please contact me at Joe@LiveLikeAndrew.org if you'd be interested in attending and/or helping to staff our booth at the event. This is one of those events that conflicts with another B+ event, so we're stretched a little thin. Thanks.
Upcoming B+ Foundation Events
1. Our 8th Annual B+ Golf Outing and Auction is coming up on 9/22/14 at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, DE. There are still a few spots available for the golf and we're ALWAYS looking for donations of cool items for our auction. Travel packages are always super popular, so if you have access to airline tickets, hotel rooms, Amtrak tickets, or mileage points for any of the aforementioned and you'd be willing to donate them, we'd love it. You can contact me at Joe@LiveLikeAndrew.org regarding donations. To sign up for the golf, please visit www.BePositive.org and you'll see the link on our homepage.
Special Requests
Please keep all the kids, but today, especially Daulton, Taylor, and Carrie in your thoughts and prayers. I hope you'll find a minute to leave them an encouraging message. Thanks.
