Thank You BMW DelVal Club!
One of the nice things about my job is seeing the way that people rally around the B+ Heroes and their families. They may not have ever met these kids, but these kind people are not 'strangers'. When we were in the hospital, I called people like this 'friends we haven't met yet'.
Well, today, I want give kudos to a group of people that I have had the privilege of getting to know over the past year and a half or so -- the BMW DelVal Club. What they do for kids that they don't know is really remarkable. They have chosen to use your talents and their hobby to not only raise money and awareness for our battle against childhood cancer, but they give our B+ Hero Families a thrill -- a day at the track.
These BMW car enthusiasts from PA/DE/NJ hosted an event last year at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ. And, I am pleased to report that the Club has decided to hold the 2nd Annual B+ Day at the Track on Sat. Aug. 23rd. There will be a nice lunch for the families followed by the real highlight - a couple of laps around the track in a race car!!! The kids (and families) will get a chance to pose for photos on the trophy podium where they took the opportunity to drench me with water last year (our substitute for the champagne spray). And, finally, they'll cheer on the BMW DelVal Club members as they hit the track for their race.
It's going to be a great day and I love seeing the smiles on the kids' faces. Thank you, BMW DelVal Club for finding your way to make a difference not only in these kids' lives but also in the greater fight against these terrible diseases.
Stay tuned for pictures of the event in about 2 weeks.
B+
