Impatient for Progress

B+ Hero Rhett

“I am so sorry it has taken me this long to send a thank you this chemo round has been crazy!!! Rhett decided he wanted to make y'all a picture to thank you and he is especially famous here for his handprints!!! Thank y'all again for helping us!!!”

B+ Hero Kody

“Thank you for your help.

Many people don't understand the hardship that comes with a child with cancer. Our son was diagnosed on April 11,2023. He has B-cell acute leukemia. His journey has been a hard one. It seems like we spend more time in the hospital than at home. I had to quit my job teaching school to take care of Kody at home. Weekly hospital visits and some weeks are twice a week. It takes a toll on your finances, marriage, friendship and a lot more. Thank you for helping us out on our mortgage payment. This was a true blessing.”

B+ Hero Halie

“As a single mother with limited family support, I am grateful for the aid we received. I knew it would be difficult to manage this new adventure on my own financially. Parents never expect the worst, but we do strive to be proactive with health insurance and basic requirements. Halie is such a bright girl, and it is not because she is my child; her persistence inspires me to be better. She has taken every curveball that has come her way. Halie is currently in a pivotal time, attending normal senior classes in high school while keeping a high GPA at San Antonio College. One week Prior to Thanksgiving, Halie noticed a bump on her neck and a constant itch, so like any parent, I scheduled her for a doctor's appointment. On November 22, 2023, I received a call from Halie's pediatrician, who confirmed her need to visit a specialist. Halie a 17 year old suspected something was going on because of her symptoms, but she was never really certain. When I got the call, I wanted to keep it quiet so she could enjoy Thanksgiving. When the Hematologist verified the diagnosis, reality hit all of us, and Halie was distraught. Being on this cancer road with Halie has reminded me of the importance of valuing life and never turning down help when it is required. We appreciate the assistance, and it provides us piece of mind to keep afloat. One less worry as time continues.”

ACCELERATE Annual Conference

I am literally in the air right now on my way back home from Brussels. As you may recall, The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is the lead sponsor of this exciting initiative that brings together Regulators (FDA, EMA, etc.), Industry (Pharma), Researchers (pediatric oncologists), and Advocates (like us). We had over 200 people from 5 continents in person for 2 days of presentations and discussions. We’ve got the brightest minds around the table. We must move more quickly for the Rhetts, Halies, and Kodys!

Enjoy the weekend!
