A Message from Chris:

A diary entry from exactly 3 years ago  made me smile and squeezed my heart.  It simply read: “Andrew surprised us by making breakfast before school and making a sign that said ‘I love you’.”  I smile as I remember our surprise and the hugs that followed.  I wonder what made a 14-year-old boy rushing to get to high school think to get up early, make his family breakfast, and express his love?  At this point in time, no one knew what was to come just 3 weeks later.   Andrew made ordinary days special just because.  This was another gift he gave us to keep in our memories forever.   I wish I could say that I give gifts like this to friends and family.  Now that’s a New Year’s resolution to work on.

Peace,

Chris – Andrew’s and Ali’s Mom

Tom Latchford, a B+ supporter, a bone marrow donor, and a mail carrier, is organizing a bone marrow registration drive on Jan 18th at the New Castle (DE) mail facility near the Amazon.com distribution center.  Registration is free.  It only takes one person to be a match.  Tom is the donor to a little boy who has now gained extra time because of Tom’s generosity.  Please consider getting on the registry.

Another B+ supporter, Karen Patterson, is asking for prayers for her father.  Her Dad, Rick Phillips, was diagnosed with a brain tumor on New Year’s Day.  As their collective heads are probably still spinning, I’m sure they’d appreciate it to know that you are praying for them.

Finally, yesterday morning, Chris and I had the true pleasure of meeting an amazing young man named David Pic.  You may recall that this 6 year old boy organized a fundraiser in honor of a friend, Jack Langseder, who went to Heaven a few months ago.  David organized everything and raised over $1,825 for The B+ Foundation!!!  As you’ll see from the picture above and on our sites, the Pic family, the Langseders, Fr. Dillingham (from St. Mary of the Assumption where the fundraiser was held), and other friends joined us for the check presentation ceremony.  You’re an amazing young man, David.  Coincidentally, today (Jan 10th) is Jack Langseder’s birthday.  Our prayers go out to the Langseder family.

Tonight will be one of the toughest talks I have ever given.  I have been asked to speak at the Salesianum Soccer Banquet.  As you know, this is Andrew’s team and this would be Andrew’s senior year.  I am truly honored to be invited to speak, but it’s going to be so sad.  Help me out, Buddy!
