Yesterday, B+ Hero Noxah Palomo had a 3+ hour MRI to check on the status of the mass on his brain.  As you know from my recent postings, Noxah is a brave 13 year old from New Castle, DE who is battling a relapse of AML (leukemia).  I had the pleasure to spend some time with Noxah’s family yesterday at the hospital while Noxah was having the procedure.  Noxah’s Mom, Peggy, just posted this incredible report on the test results:

Just got the report on the MRI……. The swelling is still there, but the steriods will help with that and the mass is gone!!! The spine is clear also. Thank God. He has a spinal tap and bone marrow biospy tomorrw. What an amazing fighter our Noxah is!!!!!!!!!!

God bless Noxah, his family, and all of the people who are working so hard to help Noxah get better!

And on a lighter note, I learned of Noxah’s food cravings yesterday and just thought they were so funny.  If anyone wants to send a care package to the hospital, Noxah is loving croutons, plain or BBQ Pringles, and Gold Peak iced tea.  What a combination!

I’m sorry that I neglected to mention that the overall winner of last weekend’s “1614 Fitness Pump & Run” was Grant McGuigan.  Winning the Pump & Run is impressive in and of itself, but Grant is a cancer SURVIVOR!!!  This is the second year in a row that he has won!  Great job, Grant.  You’re a great role model.

Yesterday, I went to Andrew’s school to pick up ‘his’ yearbook.  To be honest, it really sucked.  Walking  those halls and seeing all those boys just broke my heart.  Andrew should be getting ready for graduation.  Andrew’s picture should be all throughout that yearbook for sports, dances, and other school activities.  Unfortunately, he didn’t get the opportunity to participate in all of that.

The school put a little 1/2 page tribute to Andrew in the back of the yearbook.

This is such a brutal time.  We have received graduation party invitations and we appreciate that we haven’t been excluded from the list.  I’m sure people are dreading seeing us.  But, every time I see an invitation, it’s as if someone is turning the knife in my heart.  June 4th (graduation) is going to be so hard, but Andrew is a member of the “Class of 2010″ so nothing will keep me from representing him at HIS graduation.

I would like to thank everyone who has signed up for our “4th Annual B+ Fighting Childhood Cancer 5k Run/Walk” on Thurs. June 17th at Andrew’s school (Salesianum).  I hope more people will sign up as teams or individuals and spread the word through everyone’s address books to donate to the cause.  We have a huge goal.  And, thank you to everyone who has submitted for matching gifts through their employers.  This is a great way to double or triple your donation.  Thank you.
