I had the privilege of speaking to a golf outing this morning for the Hockessin (HSC) Blast girls soccer team. Not only has the team decided to make The B+ Foundation a secondary beneficiary of their tournament, but they also have ‘adopted’ a super brave B+ Hero, Kara Kelly. Kara was diagnosed in Oct. 07 with medulloblastoma (brain tumor). Last Sunday, Kara joined her ‘teammates’ for their game. The girls were so sweet to Kara and they presented her with her own HSC Blast jersey and let her sit on the bench with them. (See a nice picture of Kara and her girls on the left.) Thank you, HSC Blast players and families, for your kindness and generosity.

Later today, I will also be speaking at a Barclays Golf Tournament. They are very kindly raising money for our mission to fight childhood cancer as well. From the Barclays outing, I will head to a team dinner for the Archmere football team to speak to them. I appreciate the opportunities to spread the message about our battle against childhood cancers.

As you may recall, two years ago, we were selected as one of the beneficiaries of the Hockessin MOMS Club 2009 “Touch A Truck” fundraiser. The MOMS Club selected different beneficiaries for their event each year. It’s a really cool event for little kids as they get a chance to climb aboard everything from firetrucks to utility trucks to construction vehicles…you name it. Well, the Hockessin MOMS Club has decided to hand off this event and they went through a review process and vote to determine who would inherit, so to speak, their event. I am very pleased to report that The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation has been selected to continue this great tradition going forward. So, stay tuned for more details about our Spring, 2011 “Touch A Truck” at the Hockessin Police Athletic League. We are very appreciative of the support and vote of confidence from the Hockessin MOMS Club!

“Featured Family of the Week”
One of the families that you helped this week is the family of a 10 week old boy. This little boy has a malignant brain tumor. His parents earn $10,000/yr and this little fighter is being treated at a hospital 11 hours away from his home. As a result of your generosity, we were able to help this family with gas and food expenses while they stay with their Hero. The prognosis for this type of brain tumor (ATRT) is very grim, but as I repeatedly said while we were in the hospital, only God knows. Miracles happen every day…perhaps this little guy will receive one today. Please pray for this brave, little B+ Hero!
