Happy Halloween!
I love Halloween. As a kid, how cool is it to get dressed up and get all the free candy you can carry. It doesn’t get much better. And, some adults get dressed up and act like kids. And, as you’ve heard me say before, I think adults can learn a lot from children. It’s not going to kill you to be silly. Andrew never worried about acting or dressing silly to get a laugh – at his own expense. I have many great memories of Ali & Andrew in their Halloween costumes, but one of my favorites is when Andrew went to school in 8th grade dressed up in a French maid’s outfit. It was hilarious!!! He was one hot looking French maid.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank three supporters of The B+ Foundation:
On Oct. 22nd, Barclays Business Technology Group held their annual golf outing and designated our Foundation as the beneficiary. I was absolutely blown away when they presented us a check for over $20,000!
On Oct. 26th, Caravel Academy hosted Salesianum in soccer. All of the Caravel players wore black B+ shirts in warm-ups and presented us with a check following their game. More impressive, though, was that nearly every Caravel player came over to the sideline fence to shake my hand and Chris’ hand. Many of the players told us that they pray for Andrew. What an impressive and classy group of young men. Coach John Berry and the entire Caravel Academy community should be extremely proud of these young men. Thank you, Winnie Berry, for orchestrating the events of the night and a special thank you for the moment of silence for Andrew before the game. That was very unexpected and very kind.
On Oct. 28th, I had the rare opportunity to visit a nuclear power plant. If you think security is tight at the airports, you haven’t seen anything until you visit a nuclear power plant! Wow! I visited Peach Bottom in Delta, PA to join them for their ‘all hands’ meeting where they presented me with a check for over $11,000 to support our mission to fight childhood cancer. I met so many nice folks and really appreciate everyone’s hospitality, with special thanks going out to my host, Joan Glunt.

“Featured Family of the Week”
(Sorry I’m two days late on this, but computer issues prevented me from posting on Friday.)
Mary was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL) when she was 8 years old. Her initial treatment lasted 3 years and included multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. One year after completing her treatment protocol, the ALL returned. This time, it took 5 years of treatment to get the leukemia into remission. Mary showed no evidence of the disease for 4 years until it returned again this past April. She then began weekly chemotherapy and daily radiation. How much more does this poor girl and her family have to endure? This brave young lady has battled cancer for 13 years!!! Mary’s Mom was self-employed but she has had to put the business on hold while caring for Mary. As a result, finances are tight and YOUR Foundation has paid their phone bill. Thank you.
