Summer Leadership Academy

B+ Hero Sophie

“We recently were a recipient of family support and I wanted to take a moment to thank you and tell you a bit about my daughter. First of all, thank you so much for helping our family. This donation makes a huge impact at a time that couldn't be better. My husband recently needed to leave his job and this helps in a way I can't even describe.

I would love to tell you about our sweet daughter Sophie. Sophie is a very active 16 year old girl who loves all things social and very much enjoys going to school and participating in about any activity that comes her way. As of January 5, 2024 she is also a fierce warrior of TCell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was not typically ever sick and rarely complained and was a very healthy girl. The week before she was diagnosed she had some strange unexplained bruising and continued and worsened. I brought her to her pediatrician on that Friday January 5th and she immediately ordered some blood work and a chest X-ray. These labs would later confirm a cancer diagnosis of T Cell ALL. She was sent that day for evaluation and treatment to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital where she remained for the next 22 days during the induction phase of chemotherapy. Sophie was able to go home on January 26, 2024. Since then Sophie has been battling this cancer through inpatient and outpatient visits to the hospital. She is a wonderful team of professionals caring for her. Sophie continued to go to school part-time and will begin her Junior year of high school this fall. Over the summer she has been able to work at the local pool as a lifeguard and swimming lesson instructor, which is something she loves. She is about to begin a phase of treatment called Delayed Intensification and we are very much looking forward to the maintenance phase of her cancer battle.”

B+ Hero Ramiz

“I am also sorry for your loss and I pray for God's continued peace.

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support we have received from your organization. Your generous donation and prayers have been a tremendous source of comfort and hope during this difficult period for my family.

Ramiz, my beloved only child, is courageously battling cancer. His tenacity is a daily inspiration to us, reminding us of the resilience inherent in the human spirit. Despite the formidable challenges he faces, Ramiz continues to fight with an unwavering determination that fills us with admiration and gratitude.

The financial assistance you have provided has been invaluable. Standing with us gives us immense strength and we feel truly blessed by your caring network of employees, friends and supporters.

I extend my humblest gratitude to the donors whose generosity has made your assistance possible. Your contributions proved to have a profound impact on our lives, offering us not only critical financial relief but also hope and solidarity.

Ramiz's journey so far is evidence to the power of faith. Again , we are grateful for your kindness and prayers as they continue to impact our lives.

Ramiz remains very ill at this time and will complete the attached form as soon as it is possible

With sincere appreciation,

Tricia”

Summer Leadership Academy 2024

We hosted about 40 B+ student leaders from all over the country for our annual Summer Leadership Academy. The two day meetings were held on the Wilmington (DE) Riverfront and included a lot of great learning, dialogue, visits with local B+ Hero families and a fun night at the Wilmington Blue Rocks minor league baseball game. We’ve got a great group of student partners and I can’t wait to see the great things that they will do on their campuses to help us raise awareness and money to fight childhood cancers.

Our 18th Annual B+ Golf Outing, Dinner, & Auction is right around the corner on Sept. 30th at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, DE. We still have room for a few more sponsors and would LOVE cool, unique auction packages. Please reach out to me at Joe@livelikeandrew.org if you can help. Thanks.

Make it a great week.
