Super Busy Week!
B+ Hero Norah
Norah, I hope you have the long hair you desire soon, but in the meantime, you are ROCKING the head scarf!!!
FDM & UDance
Our student partners at my two alma maters, Fordham and Delaware, had VERY successful events this past weekend. The students had fun, the B+ Heroes were put up on their well-deserved pedestals, and a lot of money ($133,242 and $1,784,083, respectively) was raised to help other childhood cancer families and fund research. We couldn’t do what we NEED to do without these kind and generous students. THANK YOU!
DC Action Days
As Members of the Alliance for Childhood Cancer, we participated in 2023 Action Days on Capitol Hill. I was joined by B+ Hero Parents George Huhn and Julie Brewer Huhn whose son, Leon, passed away and a 16-year-old from DC, Anton Usdin, who lost his friend to cancer. We met with the Delaware and DC delegations and the other 200 or so advocates had visits with their respective Members. I’d like to give a shout out to my cousin, Kathleen Brown, and her husband, John Cullather, who gave up their time to lobby their Virginia representatives in honor of my son, Andrew. Our ‘asks’ were for increased NIH & NCI funding and re-appropriation for the STAR Act and the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative (CCDI). If anyone wants to learn more about any of this, please contact me at Joe@LiveLikeAndrew.org.
