The B+ Blog
Check out our blog to get monthly updates about all things B+ from our President and Co-Founder, Joe McDonough.

Goosebumps!
I’m almost at a loss for words to describe my emotions when my friend, B+ Hero Danny Feltwell, came to my office with a surprise.

A Lot Going On in B+ Nation!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 15th Annual B+ Golf Outing on October 4th at the DuPont Country Club.

What Can You Do?
Last Saturday, a group of very compassionate people gathered in Bismarck, ND for “Brave the Shave”. Brave the Shave is a series of head shaving events that occur all over North Dakota (and sometimes into South Dakota).

Happy 29th Birthday, Andrew!
Andrew, when you joined us 29 years ago today, you completed our family!!!

A Whole Lot To Cover!
I’m sorry that it’s been a little while since I’ve posted. The summer has been busy here at The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation.

Important Announcement from The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation
In the late summer of 2007, not long after our precious son and brother, Andrew, died, Chris, Ali and I decided to start The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation to fight childhood cancer.

Christian & Victoria
For 9 years, through the hard work of super-supporter Aaron Dunphy and the generosity of the mega-popular Dewey Beach, DE bar/restaurant, The Starboard, we have been the exclusive beneficiary of The Starboard B+ Black Tag Auction.

B+ Supports Global Research
Happy Memorial Day to our readers in the U.S. Please take a moment today to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice given by so many for our country. #NeverForgotten

Students Rock!
Over the past two weeks, three of our larger schools have held B+ events on their campuses. Our student partners have done an AMAZING job navigating through a full school year of pandemic and never quitting on our kids.

Exciting Research News!
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is proud to be one of the funders of the great work being done in the lab of Dr. Greg Friedman at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. As you may have seen on global media, exciting discoveries have just been revealed.

Live Like Andrew Today!
As I posted last week, I was blessed with the opportunity to hold my grandson, Luke Andrew, for the very first time. I literally had tears in my eyes - of happiness. But, stepping back, I do have to wonder about this world that he is entering.
Welcome Andrew's Nephew!!!
After 23 days in the NICU, I finally got a chance to meet and hold my first grandson when he was discharged this week. World, please meet Luke Andrew…nice first name and really good middle name, huh?

Lobby Day in DC (Virtually)
Whether you’ve had a child with cancer or just think kids shouldn’t get cancer, please consider joining us for (Virtual) Action Day 2021.
Join The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation and the Alliance for Childhood Cancer for Virtual Action Day 2021 on Tuesday, April 27?
Meet a B+ Hero Family
Let me introduce you to a B+ Hero Family. Adley is a 3 year old girl with a 4 year old big sister, Tenley. Tenley has been battling Leukemia and she had a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT).

Research Update Opportunity
It’s been a few weeks since I posted an update and a lot sure has happened. The Christmas holidays and early January were odd for me since we didn’t have the opportunity to participate in the Diamond State Classic (national girls high school basketball tournament) and the Wilmington Classic (Wilmington Fire Dept vs Wilmington Police Dept ice hockey game).

Happy holidays!
IF YOU’VE DONATED OR PLAN TO DONATE TO B+ THIS YEAR, STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND READ THIS. This year, The CARES Act allows a $300 charitable deduction, even if you don’t itemize your deductions for 2020. Also, you can deduct up to 100% of your AGI for charitable contributions, compared to the normal 60%.

Meet B+ Hero Thomas
I’d like you to meet 5 year old, Thomas. Thomas has 5 siblings and he is currently battling Neuroblastoma. He wants to be a cowboy and he dreams of “living inside of the Candyland board!”

We Need You!
As we experience a very aggressive second spike of coronavirus, I just hold my breath for our families. As bad as it is to be told that your child has cancer, can you imagine being told that your child has cancer DURING A PANDEMIC?!!!
Progress and Legacies
While we tend to focus on the more relatable stories of assisting families of kids with cancer with critical medical and living expenses, I get really excited about our research grants as well. Would you believe that The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation has awarded 150 research grants to leading researchers globally since our inception?
